THE MANAGEMENT OF SPORT-RELATED CONCUSSION POLICY
PURPOSE
This policy outlines our procedures the Narre Warren Football Netball Club will take in relations to the Management of Sport-Related Concussion with all its player involved at the club.
This policy will help to ensure our club:
- Meets its duty of care in relation to the health and safety of our members who play for the club.
- Upholds the reputation of our club
- Understands the risks associated with Concussion
- Complies with the standards of the AFL and associated community football leagues
RATIONALE
The Narre Warren Football Netball Club recognises the legal responsibilities and it responsibility to all its players.
CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT
Our club will ensure that:
- This policy along with the match day head injury form & medical clearance forms are handed to the player and pages 1 & 2 are copied by the club and sent to the relevant leagues.
- The club requests that all player have a SCAT6 assessment test done by a qualified medical practitioner, who deals with SCAT6/head injury tests.
- Our preferred medical practitioner is MP Sports
- MP Sports have clinics in Berwick/Frankston/Mornington.
- If you mention the club you maybe eligible for a slight discount
- The club will continue to monitor the players and see how they are progressing in their recovery, over the AFL’s minimum 21 day no play ruling
- Players must return to the trainers the completed medical clearance form by their qualified medical practitioner – before they are allowed to play.
NON-COMPLIANCE
Our club will ensure that:
- If a player does not provide a medical clearance as per the policy and guidelines of the AFL they will not be allowed to return to play.
